Would not it be good if you could drink something that would help you to lose weight instead? Sadly, that is not completely possible says dietitian Avni.

There is really no magical formula for losing weight. In spite of the several marketing hypes for weight-reduction shakes and “fat burning drinks,” there is no liquid concoction one can gulp that is going to destroy your fat cells.

Though there are drinks that would not contribute to weight gain. On the contrary, specific beverages could help melt fat quicker by quelling cravings, which might help keep you from eating added calories that will end up as an added bodyweight. These drinks might also increase your metabolism so your body can burn fat more adequately.

Delhiā€™s top dietician for weight loss, Avni Kaul, shares that as a dietician, she never likes to get anyone’s hopes up for simple weight loss by suggesting slimming liquids. But she points to beverage selection that may help.

Green tea

Begin your day by sipping a cup of green tea, which has caffeine and catechins which are bioactive plant compounds. “These two major components have the probability to help enhance fat oxidation or the capability to burn fat. Simply because you drink plenty of green tea, does not mean you are going to miraculously melt away all your waistline fat, but drinking it moderately will help a little bit.

One study published in the Journal of Functional Foods suggests that people who consumed catechins- and caffeine-containing green tea reduced a significant amount of visceral fat over a 12-week period when compared to a control group that did not consume green tea. 

Whey protein shakes

Shakes made of whey protein powder and other meal replacement beverages could be useful for reducing fat and weight if they are used to substitute a high-calorie meal. How? “Whey protein helps suppress appetite because protein is a satiating macronutrient. Drinking a whey protein shake might decrease body fat by making one less probable to snack later during the day or crave carbohydrate-rich foods.”

Also, diets high in protein have been found to be helpful for weight loss, not just due to keeping hunger at bay, but also by averting muscle loss and the slowdown in metabolism, studies suggest. Protein is important for muscle growth and repair. To support your body burn more calories, opt for the more effective protein powders.

Unsweetened black tea

If you are someone who dislikes the bitter taste of green tea, you have one healthier alternative- black tea. High in natural flavonoids, black tea has been regarded as a heart-healthy beverage that might even help in lowering blood pressure. And those same flavonoids might play a helpful role in decreasing belly fat, research indicates. A study in 2014 in Food and Function compared having black tea to another caffeinated beverage and saw that study participants who consumed 3 cups of unsweetened black tea each day for 3 months lost more inches from their waistlines compared with people who consumed the other beverage.

Calorie-less beverages

Sugar-based beverages are highly calorie-dense. They could contribute to increased blood sugar, and body weight. But there is nothing that you may drink that will help you decrease fat. Calorie-free drinks usually decrease your overall calorie consumption which could help you to lose some weight. When you do reduce weight, you are going to lose both the extra fat known as visceral fat and also other fatty deposits in the body.

To burn unwanted fat, one should replace those sugar-sweetened drinks with low- or zero-calorie beverages such as water. Studies indicate that increasing your water consumption could help boost your metabolism which helps the body to burn fat efficiently.

Apart from water, some of the best calorie-free beverages are fruit-flavoured waters, unsweetened iced or hot tea.

However, one thing that one needs to remember is that drinking a certain beverage alone is never going to reduce your weight. For that to happen, you need to combine it with eating healthy and balanced meals besides maintaining a good lifestyle which includes regular exercise or any form of physical activity and getting a proper amount of sleep every night.
